We are asking customers to assist us in controlling upload traffic from the many popular peer-to-peer (p2p) programs like "Limewire", "Kazaa", "Bit Torrent", ITunes,  etc.  Uncontrolled sharing is the default for most P2P software.  Once installed, p2p will begin to serve your personal data as soon as you boot up - even when you  cannot see any program running! 

Customers who have Peer-to-Peer software should either un-install it or carefully adjust program settings to limit or stop file sharing.  There are five good reasons to carefully control Peer-to-Peer software on your computer.  These include:

1. Lyttonnet user policy prohibits illegal file sharing.   Lyttonnet must and will treat copyright violation seriously and may terminate service in the event we receive copyright violation complaints from media producers.
2. You may be unwittingly clogging Lyttonnet by uncontrolled file serving.  This slows the network down for everybody and may increase the cost of our wholesale internet feed.  That increases everybody's internet cost!
   
3. Lyttonnet network administration may restrict, suspend or terminate service to users who exceed allowable usage.
4. Peer-to-peer software (Limewire for example) has been shown to promote - even advertise for  hacker attacks on your computer.
5. You may be unknowingly sharing private information that you do not wish to be available to the public.
